AMAZON'S TRANSGRESSION OF COMPETITOR LAW AND EU ANTITRUST CHARGES :

"Most Americans dont ponder upon Antitrust law when they look tv, cable , or visiting their favourite website but they should " these famous words are quoted by Al  Franken  . Antitrust law is not only about protecting competing business rather it is about protecting competition itself .

 CULMINATION:

 Amazon may face EU antitrust charges in coming two weeks because of its use of data from sellers with whom it intends to be a competitor  on its platform , Wall Street Journal  told on Thursday by putting at a risk of hefty fine . EU ( European union) has been investigating and circulating a draft of charge sheet for a couple of months  and possibility of filing the charges in the upcoming week .

The European Union has also been investigating Amazon's dual role of being a marketplace for sellers as well as being a competitor for 2 years whether its data use in contravention of EU competition rules or not  , that was basically initiated as a result of several complaints from merchants about the practices of Amazon , it has been suggested that Amazon uses ambitiously sensitive sellers data to select winners of its most famous "BUY BOX" that appears on the right side of wanted product page and when the buyer intents to buy from this section , the highest ranked sellers pop up there and that person makes the best selling than other sellers for that product which was basically originated to give the best value to the buyers money .

It has been found that Amazon employees had used easily recognisable data from sellers to suffuse its assisting product technique , according to 20 former  employees , this journal reviewed

 APPRAISAL AND CONS :

 A charge sheet also known as "statement of objections " will be send to the company that will be highlighting the conjecture transgressions or violation aof Anti trust law and Amazon have to reply this charge sheet in writing and can also ask an oppurtunity to defend itself but if these accusations proved to be right , the company will have to face a fine of 10 %  worldwide annual  yield or income as well as restrictions too  , this is not the first time AMAZON is experiencing such situation , three  years back it was told to pay about 250 million euros to Luxembourg ( a small European country surrounded by Belgium  because of illegal tax benefits .The charges would be filed next week but still it will take  one year to make final conclusion about this matter by EU commission .

EU Competitor commissioner , Margrethe Vestager questioned third party merchants on their terms with Amazon to determine whether Amazon use this data for its benefits or not .

Amazon has already been investigating by Federal Trade Comission over its practices , The department of justice and House Judicial Committee have both suggested antitrust reviews and in recent years under Vestager , the EU has gone  after many U.S technology giants including GOOGLE ancestor company ALPHABET , with more than 9 billion $ fine whereas talking about  U.S , House Judiciary Committee asked Amazon's CEO Jeff Bezos to give evidence about its practices with third seller and would intimidate a warrant too , in case of non compliance

Amazon had not given its feedback to a request for comment .
