PRECARIOUSNESS OF WEATHER: (EFFECTS ON NASA SPACE X MISSION, THE ENDEAVOUR)

 

 ACCORDING TO JOHN RUSKIN, there is no such thing as bad weather only different kinds of good weather . but sometimes this weather can cause a delay in happening of most remarkable, revolutionary  moments of world .

just like in the case of launching of NASA SPACE-X DRAGON CREWED CAPSULE MISSION "THE ENDEAVOUR" is expected to be delayed by the uncertain weather conditions

 

THE ENDEAVOUR:

It is a partnership programme of NASA and SPACE X companies to launch the first american space craft that will be responsible for transportation of people from earth to INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION .before this mission space x has completed 20 different space missions from 2011 to 2020. BOB BEHENKEN and HURLEY will be the astronauts according to director  at Kennedy, they want to establish a commercial environment in low earth orbit so that they can enable themselves in exploring the world beyond this world infect the magnificent universe. this dragon crewed capsule mission will be assisting them fulfilling their dreams.

 

INCIDENT IN 2014:

ELEN MUSK ( CEO of space x company) tweeted in September 6  2014 before launching its space rocket satellite about the striking of light on the towers but fortunately no rocket as well as satellite was effected . this striking delayed the launching of space x rocket falcon -9, 1.5 hours.

same scenario of delaying the launch of ENDEAVOUR is expecting to be happen if weather remains unpleasant

 

NEXT LAUNCH:

If this happens , the next launch which was planned on Wednesday first but then postponed to Saturday ,30 may at 15:22 eastern day timing (1922 GMT or 12:52 am on Sunday) will be postponed to Sunday at 3 pm EST (1900 GMT or 12:30 am SIT on monday) to catch international space station which travels at 27000km per hour or 17000 miles per hour .

 

ENVIRONMENT EFFECTS ON SPACE CRAFT:

There are more effects observed on space crafts rather than air crafts which can travel in storm as well as heavy rains as well below is the elaborated discussion which conditions and how they effect the launching of space crafts

 

LIGHTENING:

ROCKETS are perfectly capable of launching in thunderstorms like civil airliner but can experience little bit of problems in doing so .Rockets are made up of metals,and their exhaust is partially ionised so during launching ,entire rocket exhaust trail is like a conductive wire trying to attract  rocket to the ground  .and also lightening strikes will also be attracted by its surface mostly rockets are able to withstand these strikes but sometimes they can cause serious problems such as it happened in APOLLO LAUNCH 12 which caused some problems in onboard  computers and telemetry link but fortunately  flight computers were running and  any major unfortunate incident didn't happened, Air planes avoid for the same reason yet they have more capacity to inculcate lightning diminution.

 

WIND:

control system of rocket is capable of compensating several factor any large error in engines,gyroscopes , global positioning system can lead the rocket uncontrolled and can cause disastrous effects on both rockets as well on astronauts too .wind can also be astonishingly that uncertain factor as it can cause shears or clippers too and is can put a serious aerodynamic load on space crafts which are generated by fins, nose cone and body tube which is a fundamental force to control direction of flight. if weather observation reaches or exceeds 34mph ,chances of scrubbing is more and also finding atmosphere high in the sky suitable for launching is different on groins ,higher you go shear is analysed not the speed.According to ELEN MUSK,high shear is hits like a sledgehammer .

 

CLOUDS:

Even there is no lightening or wind , clouds can also interfere in launching as they can be the cause of rocket triggered lightening (a giant spark that is not formed naturally in atmosphere but occurs when rocket flies through enough electric field. that is much lower than natural one and clouds not  even producing lightning sparks are capable to do so .the landing of spacecraft back on earth is a highly expert fully guided work done by professional having experience of years , a thick layers of clouds ,rain can interfere in landing on a ship in a huge oceans.

 

THUNDERSTORMS:

It can also be an uncertain factor specially in Florida  where thunderstorms occur every second day in summer. they can stop all activities on launch pad . making sure of not having any thunderstorms or lightning with in 10 nautical miles of launch pad in thirty minutes is very important.

NASA has eight different weather criteria related to thunderstorm to find out whether it is suitable to launch or not.or will it be safe during launching process

 

THE AIR FORCE 45th WEATHER SQUADRON ,provides weather information's for launches along the east coast including florida as these conditions control many situations on launching sites as well launches themselves

 

IMPORTANCE OF "THE ENDEAVOUR MISSION"

according to president DONALD TRUMP , past leaders put the US at the mercy of foreigh nations to send our asrtonauts to space we were dependent on them and had to pay billions of dollars but not any more . He said we proudly claim the laucnching of united states of America rockets from united states soil .

 

"in short lets hope that environmental unfavourable condition dont delay this hysteric invention from launching which according to meteorologist ,there are fifty fifty chances".
